iTheatrics has done it again! Yesterday, the team at iTheatrics presented the very first workshop performance of NICE WORK IF YOU CAN GET IT: High School Edition, and the show was a huge hit. The Tams team was invited to this special sneak peek, and we all had a wonderful time.
NICE WORK IF YOU CAN GET IT is a rollicking musical comedy featuring music and lyrics by George and Ira Gerswhin and a hilarious original book by Tony winner Joe DiPietro. With gangsters, bootleggers, playboys and society dames all colliding in a luxurious Long Island mansion, the show features non-stop laughs and classic Gershwin tunes like “‘S Wonderful,” “Fascinating Rhythm,” and the title song.
For this New York City workshop, iTheatrics assembled 38 high school students from around the country. After auditions, casting, and less than two weeks of intense rehearsals and edits, the cast and crew presented a new full-length, two-act adaptation of NICE WORK– one that’s appropriate for high school actors performing for family audiences. Jacob Brent directed and choreographed, and David John Madore served as Music Director.
Librettist Joe DiPietro attended the workshop performance, and he loved the new adaptation. He praised the actors in particular for their passion and commitment.
NICE WORK IF YOU CAN GET IT: High School Edition will now go through an additional editing and workshop process, and the show will be available for licensing in about a year. If you’re looking for a similar show now, check out A CHORUS LINE: High School Edition, the original version of NICE WORK IF YOU CAN GET IT, or one of our Young Performers’ Editions.
Congratulations to iTheatrics and the entire cast & crew of NICE WORK IF YOU CAN GET IT: High School Edition!
